Tooth-Colored Fillings

Dr. Rao places equal importance on optimal health, function, and esthetics (beauty) when restoring teeth. She uses tooth-colored composite resin dental fillings instead of amalgams.

Amalgams vs. Composites

You may be aware, dental amalgam contains trace amounts of mercury, a hazardous heavy metal. While the FDA and ADA state that amalgam is safe in most cases, Dr. Rao believes that composite fillings are a reliable alternative. In addition, composite fillings look like natural tooth enamel, so they keep a smile white and beautiful.

Replacing Amalgam

If you need an old filling replaced, either because it’s faulty or you prefer white fillings, we can use composites in place of your amalgams. Keep in mind, however, if tooth decay has occurred below your amalgam filling, you may need an inlay, onlay, or crown to restore your tooth’s durability.
